A note here on the term intimacy: Americans use the term as a euphemism for sex. I mean it as “into-me-you-see”, revealing your vulnerable underbelly, letting yourself be known for who you really are, showing up authentically—which may or may not involve sex. Intimacy can be daunting, which is why people often avoid it while claiming to want more of it; humans are ambivalent creatures.
People think of intimacy as the juicy sexy stuff. Not! You can have sex, and you can have intimacy. But they’re not the same thing. And if you’re lucky, you can have both at the same time.
I offer sex therapy services to people in Marin County and the San Francisco Bay Area, and internationally, via Skype or phone.
